Super Shakes

Super Shakes are packed with protein, nutrients from fruits and veggies, and healthy fats. Additionally, they taste great and are quick and easy to make. It only takes a few minutes to assemble the ingredients below into your blender, and then you can drink it on the spot or put it in a “to go” mug to drink in your car or at your desk!

6 Steps for the Perfect Shake

1. LIQUID

SHOP RECOMMENDATION: Water

  • Water is the optimal choice because it will ensure hydration without adding extra calories to your shake
  • Less liquid will make for thick shakes, while more liquid will result in thin shakes

2. PROTEIN POWDER

SHOP RECOMMENDATION: Vanilla Whey Protein Powder

  • Choose a protein powder that tastes good and mixes well. This will be the primary flavor of your shake, so you should definitely enjoy the taste.
  • Aim for a minimum of 25g of protein

3. VEGGIE

SHOP RECOMMENDATION: Spinach

  • Spinach is a great choice because it will practically disappear when blended and does not have a strong taste. Further, spinach is a superfood that provides more nutrients than any other food on a calorie-for-calorie basis.

4. FRUIT

SHOP RECOMMENDATION: Frozen Berries

  • Frozen berries, such as blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, work very well in a Super Shake because they taste delicious and will add thickness and texture to your shake.
  • Almost all berries are considered superfoods for their extremely high antioxidant values.

5. HEALTHY FAT

SHOP RECOMMENDATION: Liquid Fish Oil

  • Consider a liquid fish oil for the essential fatty acids (Omega 3’s) without the fishy taste.
  • Nuts, such as almonds or nut butter, offer a rich consistency.
  • Use sparingly, as healthy fats are calorically dense.

6. TOPPER

SHOP RECOMMENDATION: Cinnamon

  • Cinnamon tastes incredible when blended with a vanilla protein powder and frozen berries!
  • In case the taste wasn’t enough, cinnamon also boasts the following:
    • Anti-inflammatory compounds that can help with muscle and joint pain
    • Compounds called catechins that can improve digestive function
    • Ability to reduce blood sugar, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol
