When I was younger I dressed up as a magician named Mystic, which translated to Missy, which translated to Mistletoe, and now we’re at Toes. I’m sure it’ll continue transforming.

My sports were chosen by default. In kindergarten I went to a winter basketball camp and cried through every practice, which led me straight to figure skating. In elementary school, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play volleyball or run cross country. Then my mom had me try some of my sister’s cross country workouts and I quickly and confidently committed to volleyball, which I then played through high school and a year into college (and now enjoy in the sand with friends!). And since I already knew from experience that running wasn’t the love of my life, I happily joined the jumps crew for track and field, continuing this love into college for another 4 years as a high and triple jumper. This time was filled with many individual and team state championships, collegiate conference championships, and my final season rounded out with a humbling Champion of Character award.

I should be an elementary education teacher. I majored in it until half-way through my junior year, when I realized I have WAY too many other hobbies to make a great teacher. Writing novels/elementary/children’s books, watercolor painting, spending inordinate amounts of time at the coast (we don’t have one of those up in North Dakota), making jewelry and other arts and crafts, reading, keeping in touch with my family through Google Hangouts (creating a new account for Mom each time because she “never got a username”), going for casual hikes (which turn into asthmatic sprints because I refuse to get eaten by cougar)…I like A LOT of different things.
Rapid Fire Questions:
Tales of a Drama Queen by Lee Nichols. Literally in tears laughing.
The Other Woman
Favorite Cheat Meal
Stove-top popcorn (if you make enough of it, it’s a meal)
Cartwheels and handsprings on the beach, or jumping over ocean waves
Least Favorite Exercise/Movement
Olympic lifts – they make me feel like a bulky football player and I’m just not willing to own that image. Just ask my past coaches.

I used to work in a daycare and can put 9 infants to sleep for an afternoon nap in under 15 minutes (on my best day). And I can change my own head gaskets on my Subaru (with help, but still).
Famous Last Words:
“I put 9 infants to sleep for an afternoon nap in under 15 minutes.” Sounds like you’d make a great CrossFit coach too!!
